Spaghetti Pie
Got dinner plans? Cancel them. You’re going to want to make this Spaghetti Pie instead. Trust me. This is cheesy, meaty, saucy pasta bliss. I love a good meaty tomato sauce and when it’s spooned over a thick, hearty wedge of pasta with four cheeses? I’m in comfort food heaven.
This Spaghetti Pie came together pretty quickly, so it’d make a great weeknight dinner. It makes six large servings and I was really satisfied after eating one. Serve it with a side salad or some veggies for a complete meal. It’s hard to believe all that cheese, meat and pasta can come together for just 380 calories or 9 Green, 9 Blue or 5 Purple Weight Watchers SmartPoints. Your family and friends won’t believe it either. I’m willing to bet that once you’ve made this crowd-pleaser, it’ll be requested again and again!

Spaghetti Pie
Ingredients
- 10 oz dry wheat thin spaghetti
- ¾ lb 95% lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 15 oz can crushed tomatoes
- ½ teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- 3 oz 1/3 less fat cream cheese, cut into cubes
- 1/3 cup fat free cottage cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup shredded 2% Mozzarella cheese, divided
Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven to 400. Lightly mist a deep dish 9” pie plate with cooking spray and set aside.
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. As soon as spaghetti is done cooking (while it’s still hot), start step 4.
- While the water is boiling for step one, bring a large skillet or saute pan over medium high heat and add the ground beef. Break the beef up with a large spoon or spatula and add the onion, salt and pepper. Cook until beef is browned and onions are cooked (about 5-7 minutes). Add garlic and cook for an additional minute. Stir in the tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, oregano and Italian Seasoning and reduce the heat to simmer for about 10 minutes.
- When the pasta is done cooking, drain it and add the cream cheese cubes back into the empty pot. Cover the cream cheese cubes with the hot pasta and stir/toss to melt the cheese and coat the pasta. Add the cottage cheese, Parmesan and ¼ cup of the Mozzarella and toss until well combined. Add 2 cups of the meat sauce from step 3 and stir to coat. Continue to warm the additional sauce on low on the stove top.
- Transfer the spaghetti mixture from the pot into the pie plate and press it down with a spatula and smooth the top. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of Mozzarella over the top of the spaghetti pie and bake in the oven for 20 minutes until cooked through and cheese is bubbly. Let stand for a few minutes after cooking and cut the pie into 6 even wedges. Serve each wedge with ¼ cup of the meat sauce spooned over the top.

My husband loves spaghetti and asks me to make it all the time, I’m sure he will love this– so excited to try!! I’m sure it will be great like all the rest of your recipes!!
Thanks, I hope you both love it! 🙂
This sounds amazing! Def making this week! Don’t know how succesful I would be on ww without your recipes!
Thanks Miranda, hope you loved it!
omg this is like, my childhood! We called it spaghetti casserole (made in a baking dish). It was a dinner party staple! I think I know what we need to have for dinner tonight!
Oh yay, I hope it tastes just like you remember!
Made this for dinner tonight. YUM! Love the combination of cheeses – lots of flavor and very cheesy. Thanks Emily, will definitely make again.
So glad you loved it!
Emily, I made this recipe tonight and my family absolutely loved it! I used low-fat rather than ff cream cheese, cottage cheese and mozzarella, since that’s what I had. Also, I used an 11×7 pan, and spread the remaining meat-sauce on top, then sprinkled with the remaining cheese, then baked. We will make this recipe often. Thank you!
Happy to hear you liked it!
I have made something similar without the meat/sauce and it was good. So I only imagine how good this is going to be with the meat! So this can definitely be turned into a non-meat meal if anyone is wondering!!! I plan to make it this week and can’t wait for leftovers already!
Hope you love it!!
Excellent meal!! My family loved how hearty and delicious this meal was. Thank you so much! I love how you convert to WW points plus. It’s ideal for me as my family started the program about 1 month ago!
Good luck on WW, you can do this! Thanks for letting me know your family loved the recipe. 🙂
Best. Spaghetti. Ever. The super easy but delicious sauce could be used for other recipes, I loved it. Thank you so much!!! ~Sue
Yesss, glad you loved it so much! 🙂
Made this last night and it will become a regular staple meal in our household! My husband loves it so much. Thank you for your blog and for helping people like us eat healthy food that tastes delicious!!!!!!
Thank YOU for your comment – so happy you both loved it!
We made this for dinner last night, and OH my gosh, it is SO good! I’ve never had baked spaghetti before, but I thought, surely this will be tasty since I love spaghetti + all of the ingredients. I underestimated! This is now up there on our favorite meals (and we try a LOT of internet recipes)! My husband asked if this could be a staple meal for us. It is pure cheesy goodness!
Oh yay, I’m thrilled this exceeded your high expectations! Thanks for letting me know 🙂
Made this for dinner last week and it was awesome. While I was putting it togther I said to myself “Hope this is as good as it looks” and it was. I even brought a piece for a co-worker and they also loved it so much she wanted the recipe so I shared it with her too. Will be making this one over and over. Thank you.
So happy to hear you loved it – thanks!
Made this for dinner on Friday and my husband and I had nothing that we would have changed! Thank you so much for the recipe as I am relatively new to WW and am also a HUGE pasta lover.
Woohoo, husband approved! So happy to hear you both liked it! 🙂
Think I could replace the cottage cheese with ricotta?
Sure
All I can say is–THANK YOU!!! I absolutely love this, however, it’s so high in fat and everything else that I didn’t think the original points were worth it. But at 9 points plus per serving, it’s worth every point!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, and thank you again.
Hooray, so happy you loved it and that it was wort every point. Thank YOU for letting me know! <3
Has anyone tried to freeze this?
Goodness Emily, you just keep impressing me. This was epitome of comfort food. I loved it and can’t wait to make it again. And again. And again. 🙂
Thanks for another good one Emily! Made this for my valentine tonight and he loved it! I didn’t read the recipe well and accidentally forgot to put some meat sauce in with the noodles and it was still delicious!
OMG – A-MAZING! ‘Nuff said
My husband won’t eat ground meat, could I just eliminate the meat or would that mess it up?
I’m sure you could make a meat-free version
Made this tonight and was blown away by how amazing it was. So rich. My weight watchers leader made it last week and talked about it so highly that I HAD to make it. So glad I did.
Question… I see 2 different point calculations here (6 & 8). Would you be able to tell me which is the correct one? Can’t wait to try this. Thank you so much!!!
I just calculated the points value of this recipe using the nutrition info from myfitnesspal.com and the Points+ calculator on my phone. The points value of this dish actually came out to 10 points per serving. Still not bad for a main meal…but a little high for an everyday dinner when every point counts…
Emily – did you notice you say this dish is 9 points + in the text and then 6 points + in the recipe? Which is it?
Oops! Sorry about that, it’s 9 PP. I messed it up when I transferred my posts to WordPress format and I thought I remembered to fix it but I hadn’t. Thanks for catching that – fixed!
This looks AMAZING! How much is 1 wedge of the pie?
Hi Charis, the number of servings/serving size is underneath the recipe title in the recipe section of the post. In this case, one wedge is 1/6 of the pie 🙂
So yummy! Picky four year old and hubby approved. Thank you so much for all your hard work, Emily. Everything I’ve made from your website has been just great!
The best! My husband asks for this two to three times a month! If you haven’t tried it yet, stop what you’re doing a get cooking!
I made this last night and my husband and I both loved it! We just had the leftovers for lunch and we’re both looking forward to having it again soon! Thank you! Also, to the commenter above, I used ricotta instead of cottage cheese and it was great! I also used ground turkey instead of beef since I don’t eat beef or pork.
I really, really wanted to like this. It just tasted really bland and lacked flavor. I was super disappointed.
I’m sorry to hear that! I can’t imagine what could have gone wrong because I’ve always found it super flavorful and gotten great feedback from other readers. Hope the next one you make blows you away!
I love all your recipes!! I use your recipes every week! We just had the spaghetti pie last night and it was awesome! The only thing I added was some splenda to the sauce to give it a little sweetness. Keep the recipes coming Emily!!
Wow, just WOW!! I made this two nights ago for dinner. Normally it’s hard for me to follow a recipe and not put my own spin on it, but I followed yours ALMOST to a T (added a teaspoon of sugar and a bit of basil to the sauce) and it received rave reviews from hubs and DD! First of all, the portions are huge! I wasn’t sure if one pie plate would be enough, but we each only had one serving and were stuffed. All three of us took a portion of the leftovers for lunch yesterday and it reheated fantastically! A couple quick notes….hubs likes lots of sauce, so having the ladle full of sauce on top was great for him. I’m kind of a medium sauce girl, so I added just a bit to the top of my portion. DD likes very little sauce so she ate hers plain….WIN WIN WIN! For the leftovers yesterday hubs was the only one who added sauce to his portion, DD and I took ours plain. I have to say I liked it equally as well without the additional sauce on top. A very satisfying and filling hot lunch on a cold snowy day! This one is going into the keeper file….THANKS!
I’m so happy to hear everyone loved it! It’s great to hear that everyone was able to eat it just the way they like it too :). Thanks so much for coming back to let me know it was a hit!
Forgot to mention, I’m a lifetime WW member who still follows the “old” points system. Based on the nutritional info given, one serving was only 8 old points! We paired this will fresh roasted green beans and a large salad for a great meal that came in at only 9 points total….can’t beat that!!
Awesome! 🙂
What about substituting the pasta with spaghetti squash? The PP would be a lot less per serving. Not sure how it would bake up or how to make the conversion. Thoughts?
I personally don’t care for Spaghetti squash, but you’re welcome to try it! It would certainly be less points but would also taste like a very different dish in my opinion. Hope it works out!
Just wanted to stop by to let you know I make a vegetarian version of this with fake beef crumbles instead of ground beef, and it is delicious! My husband is a vegetarian but likes only traditionally unhealthy foods (no mushrooms or eggplant or tofu; only pasta, cheese, bread), so this is a nice way to make something that appeals to him that isn’t too bad for us! I’m a meat eater, and this recipe is so flavorful I don’t miss the meat at all. Only other change; I like tangy sauces and sometimes add in a dash of balsamic. Thanks so much for the recipe; I lost it and recently re-found it, I was so happy I texted my bff about it!
JUST made this and it was delicious! I went through the comments after and noticed someone mentioned mozzarella cheese. I had to scroll back up and sure enough I completely skipped an ingredient but it was still AMAZING, and added bonus of less points with less cheese lol
I made this for dinner last night and it was delicious!! I worked all day, walked my four miles after work, stopped by the store for the ingredients and went home and made it! While it was baking, I threw in a load of laundry and cleaned up the kitchen. When it was finished I cut myself a piece and sat down.. finally lol… to eat and wow! It was an excellent dish and I will be making it again! I brought some to work today for lunch!
Thank you for helping those of us that are following WW with your amazing recipes!!
I just made this tonight and really am shocked at how big the pieces are. Is this real life for only 9smartpoints?
Is fat free cottage cheese the same as “dry cottage cheese”?
I don’t think so. I’ve never heard of dry cottage cheese. Fat free cottage cheese should be sold with all the other cottage cheese in the dairy section
And she does it again, another delicious recipe. Thank you for sharing, this is going to be a regular in our house, it was very popular!
Can i substitute egg for the cottage cheese and cream cheese? Trying to cut back on the dairy.
Please share what brand of pastabto use? Thanks

As soon as I found this recipe, I knew I would be making it soon. Tonight was the night and we were not disappointed! I did use a full pound of extra lean ground beef and feel like we might need a bit more meat sauce for the leftovers. Next time I’ll add more garlic (can there ever be too much garlic?) and a bit more spices too. This will be enjoyed again for sure! Thanks Emily!
