Frozen Chocolate Banana Bites
I just got my first ever issue of Health magazine (thanks Aunt Nancy!) and when I saw these I immediately wanted to make them. They’re fast and easy to make and offer a quick sweet treat you can grab right from the freezer! Since the serving size contains half a banana, these little bites are also pretty filling. You can halve the recipe to make less if you’d like and if you want to play with the toppings you could always crush up some nuts, M&Ms or other candies to use in place of the coconut or sprinkles (may change the P+ value). I thought these made a fun little treat!
Frozen Chocolate Banana Bites
Yield: 8 servings
- 4 medium bananas
- ½ cup semisweet mini chocolate chips (or regular chocolate chips, I just happened to have minis)
- ¼ cup rainbow sprinkles
- ¼ cup shredded coconut
- Cut bananas into 1” rounds and spread in a single layer on a baking sheet covered with wax paper. Freeze for at least one hour.
- When bananas are frozen, place shredded coconut into a small dish and the sprinkles into another. In a small bowl, microwave the chocolate chips in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and completely smooth (mine took one minute).
- Dip each banana round halfway into the chocolate and then either into the coconut or the sprinkles and place it back onto the baking sheet covered with wax paper. When all bananas are dipped, place baking sheet back in the freezer for at least 15 minutes or until chocolate is set.

Do you then eat these frozen?? They look delish!!
I do eat them frozen, though you might like to let them thaw for just a minute or two. Love them!
I have some leftover coconut I need to use – this is perfect! Thanks girl!
Glad I could help! I’m probably going to make chocolate coconut macaroons later this week to use up MY leftover coconut now…lol.
Emily… How many pieces of banana per serving?
it depends on how many you cut! One serving is half a bananas worth.
I love chocolate covered frozen bananas! This is going to be amazing! Great idea!
I hope you love them, Christina!
Just made these tonight and absolutely love them. I like how creative you can get. I made some of mine with white chocolate too. I’ve also used the 100 cal. oreo packets, broken them up into pieces, and used that as a topping. Soooooo good!
Ooh, that sounds awesome! Happy to hear you loved them! 🙂
I can’t wait to eat these.
However, when I tried to dip the bananas into the chocolate, the chocolate wouldn’t stick. I ended up just drizzling chocolate over them instead of dipping.
I could not get the white chocolate chips to melt properly. Also, as I went along I had trouble also with the chocolate not sticking. I think I needed to freeze the bananas longer than one hour. Also, the next time, I think I will melt the chocolate in a pot rather than the microwave???
